Jakarta, INFOBANK – Bank Indonesia (BI) noted that the growth of banking credit in July 2024 increased to 12.40 percent annually (year on year/yoy). With the change of president approaching, the prospects for the banking industry in Indonesia are increasingly attracting the attention of various parties.

One of them is the President Director and CEO of PT CRIF Lembaga Informasi Keuangan (CLIK), Leonardo Lapalorcia, who has lived in Indonesia for more than 15 years. He views the future of the credit sector with optimism.

The man who is familiarly called Leo expressed his admiration for Indonesia’s ability to carry out a peaceful political transition, as well as maintaining the values of inclusivity and diversity that define this country.

“I really like the values of Indonesia, inclusivity, and diversity. I believe that is something that’s very modern and relevant in today’s world,” he said in a media interview event in Jakarta, Thursday (5/9).

One of the key points, in his view, is the strength and resilience of the Indonesian banking system. According to Leo, Indonesian banking is one of the most successful industries in the world, with strong capitalization and rapid growth. This is the basis for his belief that Indonesian banking is ready to face the ambitious development plans that the new government will implement.

“The banking system in Indonesia is very resilient. It is one of the most successful banking industries in the world. It is very capitalized, very developed, and has all the strengths needed to take advantage of the ambitious development plans of the incoming government,” he explained.

Leo also praised Indonesia’s power transition as a sign of high trust in the constitution and state institutions.

According to him, Indonesia has shown a peaceful and fluid political transition from Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) to Joko Widodo (Jokowi), and now towards the new leadership, Prabowo Subianto.

“Two thumbs up. Optimism and absolutism,” he added.
